National Association of Park Foundations Strengthens Social Media

Dr. Nathan A. Schaumleffel selected to publish Blog Series and e-Newsletters

 

Villa Park, IL, August 25, 2015 – The National Association of Park Foundations (NAPF) is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Dr. Nathan A. Schaumleffel, proprietor and Senior Consultant of Driven Strategic LLC.  Dr. Schaumleffel will author a blog series titled Cornerstone Blog with @drschaumleffel, as well as author e-newsletters designed to strengthen the social media efforts and membership development of the National Association of Park Foundations.

 

“We are excited to have Dr. Schaumleffel join the efforts of the NAPF.  We strive for excellence in all mediums to reach the local park foundations across the country with important news and information that will share best practices and other important capacity-building strategies for our members,” said Donald A. Ortale, Executive Director of the National Association of Park Foundations.

 

Dr. Schaumleffel's consulting firm, Driven Strategic LLC, specializes in consulting for parks, recreation, park foundations/friends groups, youth & human services, and university engagement.  He is also a consulting partner for the Indiana Youth Institute.  Dr. Schaumleffel specializes in the areas of fundraising, strategic planning, board development & governance, staff trainingvolunteer management, youth development, and mission-focused program development & evaluation. He specializes in nonprofit consulting for park foundations and friends groups, as well as youth organizations, and rural recreation service providers.  He also serves on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources – Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Planning Committee, and has served on the National Recreation and Park Association’s Public Policy Committee.

 

Dr. Schaumleffel has a Ph.D. in Recreation, Youth, and Community Development from the University of Illinois, as well as holds a M.S.Ed. and B.S. in Recreation Administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he was named Recreation Alumnus of the Year in 2014.  He holds both an A.A. and A.S. from Southwestern Illinois College.

 

In addition to his work with the NAPF, Dr. Schaumleffel is an Associate Professor at Indiana State University where he serves as the Campus/Executive Director of the nationally award-winning Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Certification Program and teaches in the Recreation Management & Youth Leadership program, the Outdoor Recreation Leadership curricula, and the Master’s in Public Administration program.  He has also served as a Faculty Fellow for the Indiana State University Foundation, the Indiana State University Center for Public Service and Community Engagement, and served as Faculty Fellow and Senior Faculty Fellow for Indiana Campus Compact.

 

Dr. Schaumleffel recently published a book titled: Cooperate – Advancing Your Nonprofit Organization’s Mission Through College & Community Partnerships: A Guide for Nonprofit Leaders.  He has tested and practiced the principles from this book with the Friends of Shakamak, an independent nonprofit state park foundation for Indiana DNR’s Shakamak State Park, IDNR’s Friends of Turkey Run and Shades State Parks, the R.E.I.N. CoalitionSpecial Olympics Indiana, and the Boy Scouts of America

 

 

For his efforts in the nonprofit sector, he has been awarded both the Indiana State University Distinguished Faculty Award for Community-Based Learning and Scholarship and the Distinguished Faculty Service Award, as well as the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award and the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award.

Dr. Schaumleffel lives in Terre Haute, Indiana with his wife, Missy, and two boys, Coleman and Cooper.
