Donald A. Ortale, Executive Director
Donald A. Ortale was a 23 year veteran of the Hospitality Industry before embarking on a career in the non profit sector. For the past 15+ years he has contributed to enriching lives specializing in community outreach programming and leading non profit organizations in various leadership positions. He is an award winning sports and entertainment industry professional with a proven track record in identifying the "social conscience" of organizations and helping integrate this aspect of a business into its overall marketing strategy. He served his community as a Commissioner at the Addison Park District for seven years. Donald currently serves as the Founding Partner of Ortale + Associates, Ltd, a consulting firm specializing in non profit and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Dr. Nathan A. Schaumleffel, Consulting Partner and Education & Training Services Consultant
Dr. Nathan A. Schaumleffel, CPRP, CNP, CFRM, CVA, CYSA holds a Ph.D. in Recreation, Sport, & Tourism with a focus in Youth and Community Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also holds a M.S.Ed. in the Administration of Recreation and Park Systems and a B.S. in Recreation Program Services both from Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he was named the Recreation Alumnus of the Year in 2014. He also earned an A.A. and A.S. from Southwestern Illinois College. Dr. Schaumleffel has been a featured park foundation speaker and author since before the creation of NAPF, and he currently serves on the faculty of the Park Foundation School at the Oglebay National Training Center in partnership with the National Association of Park Foundations. Dr. Nathan has been with NAPF since the founding of our organization. First, he served as Editor of the NAPF Cornerstone Blog with @drschaumleffel from July 2015 to July 2016, which was designed to strengthen the social media efforts and membership development of the association. Then, from January 2017 to November 2018, he served as Member Services Consultant to 35 park foundations and friends groups. From March 2020 to December 2020, he served as our Member Services & Programs Consultant. Currently, beginning in January 2021, Dr. Schaumleffel serves as our Education & Training Services Consultant. In addition to his current role, he has been our chief Consulting Partner since February 2019. Dr. Schaumleffel is also Proprietor & Senior Consultant of Driven Strategic LLC; as well as Associate Professor & Program Coordinator of the Recreation and Nonprofit Leadership programs at Indiana State University.
