Lori J Daniel developed and directed the city of Aurora, CO, Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department recreation services since 1972, twice National Gold Medal Award recipients; graduated from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC); regularly participated in professional development schools, conferences, and National Certification Program. Lori has served many professional state, regional & national association roles including National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) president, chair of Strategic Planning and Governance Reduction, NRPA Ambassador; state CPRA president and all elected offices; Board of regents/instructor for various national schools/conferences; American Park & Recreation Society president. Lori has been recognized for Life Time Achievement locally, the Distinguished Professional Award at the state and regional levels, and UNC Distinguished Alumni Award.
Lori was inducted into the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration in1991 serving as President 2011/12, and named a “Legend” in 2013. A member of American Camp Association Lori is a Lead Visitor for national Camp & Site Accreditation. Since 2005 has served on the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Park Steering Committee advising site development, citizen input and fundraising. Actively supports the local citizens’ 501 (c) (3) Recreation Opportunities for Aurora Residents providing citizens recreation scholarship funding.
Lori brings a long and on-going passion for the parks & recreation movement and willingness to work, strong communication, & experience in programming and promoting programs, organizations & services; utilizing collaborations and partnerships to achieve common goals and outcomes for the parks, recreation & conservation movement; and helping advance individual organizations to be their best to best serve members/community. “NAPF, with a focus to strengthen citizen individuals & groups supporting local parks, recreation & conservation is timely, needed and an excellent complement to other professional organizations.
